The State-wide 250th USMC Birthday Ball will be Saturday November 8, 2025. The Ball will be co-hosted by MGM Detachment 1180, Point Pleasant, WV and Commandant Archibald Henderson Detachment 1087, Parkersburg, WV at the
Holiday Inn and Suites, 400 Second Avenue SW, Charleston, WV. Three entres are included with each dinner ticket. There are gifts for all Members in attendance, door prizes, special guest speaker, music & dancing. We will be joined by Company A USMC Reserves, Cross Lanes, photographer and photo booth. You don't want to miss this once in our lifetime event!!
Reservations will be open soon; plus the hotel rate is $109 per night plus tax. So you don't have to worry about driving home late in the evening or if the driver might be impaired.
Come watch how the current USMC does the missing man table, Post the Colors, etc.

The 250th US Marine Corps Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony will be conducted by the Governor of West Virginia and will
be at the State Capitol building in Charleston, WV on Monday, November 10, 2025. Plans are currently being made with the Governor's Office. More information will be sent out as these plans progress, so be sure to
watch for it in future editions of The Straight Scoop!
The Department of WV Fall Conference will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the DAV 32 Hall, 934 Little Stillwell Road, Davisville, WV 26142. It will be hosted by the Commandant Archibald Henderson Detachment 1087, Parkersburg, WV. The Department Staff Officer's meeting will begin at 0930. Coffee and donuts will be provided at 0900, prior to the meeting beginning at 1000. Lunch will be served at the conclusion of the meeting. The West Virginia Pack Growl will follow the Conference. Every Detachment should plan to send at least one Officer or Member! Make sure your voice is heard - be there!
The Department of WV Winter Conference will be Saturday, January 10th or 17th, 2026 (Weather dependent), hosted by the Earl Anderson Detachment 342, Morgantown, WV. The Department Staff Officer's meeting will begin at 0930. Coffee and donuts will be provided at 0900, prior to the meeting beginning at 1000. Lunch will be served at the conclusion of the meeting.
The West Virginia Pack Growl will follow the Conference. Every Detachment should plan to send at least one Officer or Member to participate in this meeting so you will know what our plans are and have a voice in future plans.
